Christmas Lights

With the Christmas Season fast approaching many people are thinking Christmas trees and stockings and ornaments and all the things that make this time of year so enjoyable. Christmas lighting is usually pretty high on the list of many people around this time of year. Most people will decorate the inside of their homes themselves but they will hire out a contractor to install lighting on the outside of the home and very well they should. Be careful however that you don’t hire just anybody to do that kind of work, although it might seem likes it’s pretty straight forward it really isn’t as easy as just throwing the lights up and plugging them in. There are many things involved in outdoor Christmas lighting, Safety being at the top of the list both for you and your family and the installer.

First you want to find a licensed electrician with proper equipment such as long enough ladders and even a bucket truck if need be. Why do I need a licensed electrician you ask, well a licensed electrician would be able to determine the load of the lights you are trying to install so that you don’t overload the circuit and cause a short or even worse a fire, he would also be able to make any adjustments as far adding circuits outside if need be. He would also make sure that your Christmas lights are properly installed in GFI outlets with proper in-use outdoor covers. Remember, just because some says they can install Christmas lights themselves doesn’t mean that they know how to do it properly.
