Data-com and Cat5

One of my favorite aspects of my job is and has always been low voltage. One of the first companies I worked for had contracts to install and manage data-com wiring for a lot of restaurants both upscale and your run of the mill burger joints as well as other establishments such a dinner boats and even a OTB (off track betting) or two. I developed a passion for working with category 5 and category 6 wiring. Pulling out the old wires and pulling new wires wasn’t always fun but I always enjoyed the finishing touches of the project.

Wire management doesn’t sound like it’s a blast but the satisfaction you get from seeing panel completed is almost as good as a well grilled bacon cheeseburger will all the toppings. From installing the RJ45 jacks and face plates to punching down the main hub in at the head location and turning the system on, the sense of accomplishment was always there.
